Subject of commemoration: Majority Representation 1887
Description of the design: The design was created by the Maltese artist Gianni Bonnici and it shows a jubilant crowd with the Governor’s Palace, in Valletta, depicted in the background. At the top of the inner ring, in a semicircle, the inscription ‘MALTA — Majority representation 1887’. At the bottom the year ‘2012’.
The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
